ini is ignored?

well, heres my .ini:
LastProfileDirectory=C:\Users\\Desktop\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile
EnableSessionStore=false
DisableSplashScreen=true
WaitForFirefox=false
I still see th splash screen and Launcher still waits for firefox.exe to exit?!

Nope
First, you should use the full ini and not just parts of it. If you dont, it will use the defaults for the entries you havent specified.
Second, Firefox Portable might not work if you put the Data folder onto a different drive that the rest.

I just saw you used the wrong ini.
The ini you edited is inside the Data folder. It is used for internal things.
Copy the ini file you find inside the /Other/Source folder to the root folder (FirefoxPortable) and edit this one. That should work.

well, disable splash works fine for me, but Launcher keeps waiting for firefox.exe to exit...

This is the way it's supposed to work. It has to wait for it so it can clean up after it. That setting isn't really used anymore.
