Lost mail can you help please

I managed to knock my usb key as I was loading Thunderbird portable.

When I now load thunderbird it is as if it is a new instal and never been used. No accounts and no mail. I do not have a current back up. I know I will learn one day.

Is there any thing I can do to retrive my mail. I have lost some important stuff and my boss is gonna kill me. If any one can help please

(I think that the information in that thread should be compacted, simplified and added to the Thunderbird Portable support page.)
