amsn losses emoticons

Azazelh - September 15, 2009 - 1:20pm

Hi, i´m a PA fan and i like to experiment a lot with the apps in here, change commands, inis, and all that.

The thing is... i was playing with the aMsn because i wanted to have a portable messenger, anyway, so i download it, installed, customized (skins, emoticons and plug-ins), i moved the app to another folder (i usually do this in order to test portablility issues with absolute/relative paths) and surprise!, there were no more custom emoticons, just red squares Sad

Somebody know how to fix this?

Thanks ^^

Folder

Portable apps aren't made to be moved between folders. They're made to be installed to the drive and then moved between PCs. Or moved between drives with the same relative path. Several apps here will work if you move between folders, but many won't. Move it back and run it again first to ensure it's working again, then try moving it to a new PC or try copying it from say L:\PortableApps\aMSNPortable to C:\PortableApps\aMSNPortable. That should work as desired.

And welcome to PortableApps.com Smiling

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

oh.. i see.. i´ll have to

oh.. i see.. i´ll have to install it again (and like a million emoticons with it Sticking out tongue)

Well. anyway thanks for the quick response, and for the welcoming to PortableApps.com

(sorry for my english, i speak spanish Sticking out tongue)

^^

again

ok, so i did as you said... i installed a copy on my pen-drive and i had no more problems... until i started the amsn portable on another computer with a different drive letter... and we started all over again with everything on default mode Sad

Also i`m checking another comment about the topic and i see you are working on this issue... i hope everything gets solved once u check the code back from seattle.

Thanks for helping us with this, PortableApps is a great site! ^^

PS: i checked on the config.ini in the data/settings folder, and the emoticons paths, as well as the path of everything is with the drive letter (ie: g:\portableapps\amsn\... where G was the drive in wish was installed)... shouldn`t it be in relative paths?
