Portable Firefox still on version 3.5.2???

Samaroo - September 16, 2009 - 10:41am

Hi,

I've downloaded and installed version 3.5.3 from different sourceforge mirrors but Help -> About still tells me it's still FireFox 3.5.2....and an update check tells me a new update is available (ver 3.5.3).

Has anyone verified that they've actually installed version 3.5.3?

Regards,
Allan.

Nope

I just downloaded 3.5.3 and installed it and it's 3.5.3 as expected. Are you sure you're clicking the proper link... the download button on the Firefox Portable homepage here:
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

Which links to this:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/FirefoxPortable_3.5.3_Engl...

I did that from more than one mirror. It's always 3.5.3. Are you upgrading? If so, are you sure you're installing to the proper location? Try installing to X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable and then in there manually running FirefoxPortable.exe.

I deleted your duplicate post.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

It was my mistake

Hi John,

It was an issue with the path. I recently stated using the PortableApps Suite and I don't use the default path of "PortableApps" with it. I had launched the update through Explorer and didn't pay much attention to the installation path. so actually it installed correctly but in a different path and I was still launching 3.5.2 through the Suite.

Installing it through the Suite corrected the error.

Thanks for taking your time to provide the portable apps and support.

Best regards,
Allan.
