GIMP Ruined My USB

GIMP crashed and created some sort of virus on my USB!
at first the picture got wiped then the picture got deleted, then all the other pictures got wiped and then deleted. then the folder turned into a corupt file!

why has this happened? it has never happened before.

It sounds like your drive has packed up. This happens. Using applications off the drive will tend to slightly reduce the theoretical life of the drive, but when disks pack up it's generally unrelated - electrical faults rather than the clusters actually wearing out. Cheap USB disks can have fairly high failure rates.

it wasnt a cheap usb. it was

it wasnt a cheap usb. it was a 8GB one and i only had it a few months.
plus it just says no disk in drive. is there any way to fix it

No. If it's doing that, it's completely dead. You should be able to get a replacement under warranty.
