I think I have it what the menu needs.
A news aggregator!
Nevermind application updates, exit commands and user categories; let's see a the news on the front page "mirrored" in the menu, or at least a subset thereof, condensed, minaturized version of.

Do you mean an RSS Reader built into the menu itself? If so I think that's not a part of the menu's scope. It would be unnecessary bloat for many users who use purpose built apps for this function. If your looking for a portable news reader you could try RSSOwl Portable, one of the many RSS reader add ons for Firefox Portable or Chrome Portable or finally an online client such as Google Reader.
If your not talking about RSS Reader functionality for the menu can you clarify your request in your original post as it's not very clear.

Hi,
I mean in that area below help etc., I'd like a little news ticker that told me what's happening at the website. I think that would be very neat and of course you could turn it on and off as you please.
There is a program called Presonus Studio One that has this function in it's load page that's kind of like what I'm talking about links to tutorials etc.
Also, if your not logged in and you click login (next to register) below a certain post, it brings you to reply but not the post you were hoping to reply to.
Can someone look into this please the drupal side maybe?
