I give up trying to fight the automatic updates.![]() Submitted by solanus on November 7, 2009 - 1:51am
I know that there's some nitpicky legal reason that John can't turn off automatic updates, that's fine. So I give up trying to fight it. I'm not re-installing FFP to fix any potential problems from the automatic update. ( categories: )

AFAIK
there is no issue with automatic updates at the moment and there hasnt been for some time, the guidance needs updating.

Oh is there some other setting that I don't now about?
Because if there is, I'd like to know.
Seriously.
What I'd like even more would be for the autoupdate to grab the PA version instead, but that's never going to happen.

Try about:config

I was
meaning these comments: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406335#c32 that say the auto updater hasn't caused any damage for quite a long time now.

3.7?
My recollection of the issue was that it had been fixed in the 3.7 (or possibly 3.6) development branch but would not make it back to 3.0 or 3.5; I may have that wrong though.

Update problem non-existant?
Duh! There absolutely is an update problem, no matter what Portable Apps people think. I have the problem too - it updates even though the update options have always been unchecked, and just made a post about it.
