Portable Applications Ideaslepaperwan - November 20, 2009 - 11:35pm
Here's a list of my often used programs. I think I am not the only one to love those. - Piriform's apps (CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy) already have a portable version. However a PA platform version would be nice. (http://www.piriform.com) Thanks for all the great work over at PA. Lepaperwan ( categories: )

Here's a list of my often used programs. I think I am not the only one to love those.
- Piriform's apps (CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy) already have a portable version. However a PA platform version would be nice. (http://www.piriform.com)
Search. There's some PA versions and maybe some more coming. You could add the portable versions to the menu if you'd like
http://portableapps.com/support/portable_apps_suite#addingotherapps
- Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net).
Search. It uses dotnet which is currently a limitation.
- FormatFactory, a all-to-all media converter (http://www.formatoz.com).
Perhaps http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/bonkenc_portable.
- Sun's VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org).
Search. In short, it won't happen due to drivers which we need admin rights for. I've tried working on it but was unable to get past the drivers. Maybe I'll give it another go.
- Collomb's Unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker)
Search. I believe there's a version available.
- Visual Task Tips is accessory but still... If it's possible, it's a useful program (http://www.visualtasktips.com).
Anyone remember more then I do?
Don't know about this one

....As almost everything software these days, there is "exe or zip" in their homepage. Zip (its content) is, in fact, = portable software
....But will be nice, """to see their availability on PortabbleApps.com"""" and could be "officially" installed in devices. (paf.exe)
RE: Zip (its content)...
Zip'ed doesn't always mean portable.

Apps
For Paint.NET, I know of the dotnet limitation. However, allowing us to run it from our flash drive on a computer that has the dotnet framework installe would be nice. LiberKey has a portable version but their apps are exclusive to their shitty menu).
Concerning VirtualBox, as said by Gringoloco, a portable version already exists.
Unlocker has one problem when it is added to the PortableApps menu, you can't use it as you have to drag-n-drop what you want to "unlock" or you have to use the assistant.
I'm just saying that it would be nice to have them as a PA app. However, don't cause yourself to much trouble for it as it's just for it to be more practical.

Probably Illegal
Also, keep in mind, that like most of the freeware software on LiberKey, it is probably repackaged illegally. Paint.NET is freeware (it's no longer partially open source) and requires permission to repackage.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I suspect you know about the Virtual Box Portable
From the german winlite site !
But just incase !
