I don't know if it would be possible to have a portable Xmltv format tv listing viewer. I'v found lots of info here: If anyone could figure out how, i'd be happy and i'm sure i wouldn't be the only one. Thanks ( categories: )

Seems like the best way to get TV listings is the WWW for now.
The site you link talks about formats and tech stuff. The site I link actually shows what's on TV right now. I'm not a big fan of Yahoo!, but I don't know of something similar on Google yet.
Unless you have a TV tuner in the computer you're using portable apps on, it seems you'd be looking something up to watch on a TV in the same room.
Yahoo! TV lets you link shows to TiVo to record. DirecTV.com has listings that let you link to your home DVR to record. Pretty sure Dish Network has a similar feature, probably your cable company, too.
