1. my stick looks promising http://www.baum.de/mystick/en/index.html

2. thunder screen reader is another one that could work. http://www.screenreader.net/index.php?pageid=2

if these are not opensorce they do show that usb screen readers do exist. so if anyone is willing to take a look into this i would br much appricated.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Mystick isn't FOSS i.e. Free

Mystick isn't FOSS i.e. Free or Open Source (it's payware i.e: commercial software)

The second one (Thunder Screenreader) has this statement on the page you linked to:

NB Please be aware that it is not permitted for anyone to modify, distribute or host the Thunder software without the express permission of Sensory Software Ltd.

Ask them for permission to package/distro it as a PortableApp and some developer MAY package it for you. Note the emphasis on may...no guarantees.

I have a more cynical answer for why no one is helping you, but I'll keep that to myself.

BTW: NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) may be your best choice since it's Open Source and supports 64-bit Windows and Windows 7.

I just checked out Thunder

I just checked out Thunder screen reader, and it's already got a portable build; it just isn't PAF-compliant. If nobody's interested, you could always use that...
(I might take this on, but not until at least February as I've got 2 apps, a Firefox addon, and a lot of school work to juggle)
