Net monitor

Okay, I know this post is a year old, but I searched and I think it is still relevant enough to not have to make a new thread (I hope). I receive a newsletter ( link below, for attacks on hard drives and wiping them) from USCERTS everyday and in todays it reminded me of something I wanted to do for so long and had me thinking do I have something to monitor my connections, ports, router, modem ? I don't think so. It says, Enabling network monitoring and logging (when feasible), what do we have to do this here or on XP ?
