GameSave Manager

Name: GameSave Manager

Website: http://gsm.duncsweb.com/

License: Freeware

Description: With GameSave Manager, you can easily backup, restore and transfer your gamesave(s). No longer do you need to manually track through all of the those different directories to backup/restore/transfer your gamesaves, making it great for those who like to share gamesave progress with friends/family, format frequently, paranoid about data loss, etc.

Have a game that´s not supported? No problem; using the "Custom GameSave Entries" feature, you can define your own gamesaves for GameSave Manager to search for.

Notes: I think a PortableApps.com version of GSM is ideal. Considering the purpose is to backup one's saved games, doing so using a portable install to portable media is better than a local install IMO.

There is a built in portable mode which is discussed here but hard to tell just how portable it is.

Update

I've been using GSM for a couple weeks now and am very pleased with it. Not only does the app work as expected but the developer is open to suggestions and it's very quick and easy to get your games added to the supported list.

I've continued discussion regarding a PAF build of GSM via the forum. The author is good for someone to make a PAF build. To relate this here is his last post in the discussion thread:

InsaneMatt:
I have no issue with someone else making a PAF installer/extractor thingy for GameSave Manager if they choose so.

The issue I have with PAF is that it's yet another thing I'd have to do every time I release a new version of GameSave Manager, which is just tiresome. So if someone else out there is willing to create the PAF installer/extractor thingy for me then great.

Whoever does do the PAF version of GameSave Manager could expect the follow (assuming someone does and they contact me):

  • Their name in the "Credits" section of the "About" dialog within GameSave Manager (and a link to their own website, YouTube channel, Twitter page or Clan's website).
  • A "PAF Maintainer" rank of some sort within the forums (and probably moderation rights, assuming the forums get busier).
  • Early access to new versions, allowing them to create and test their PAF installer thingy to make sure everything's fine before the installer "goes live" on the website (this includes the upcoming v2.2 release).

Who's up for it?

On a completely unrelated side note, I'm really looking forward to when the documentation for the PAI, PAL and the PAF development process is overhauled. Would be good to contribute something more than my sagely advice Wink
