Peerblock Portable

I wanted to make Peerblock work with my portable apps platform and I thought I would look into making it myself. Peerblock already has a portable version (but it can't go into the platform) and doesn't appear to be written in Java or .NET so I thought this would at least be a little easier.

I looked at the "Guerilla" guide on making portable apps, but I am confused about what to use the programs for. I took regshots and compared them, but because there was really no setup there didn't appear to be any problems with the registry. I don't know where to go from here. I think I need to edit NSIS or something, or get a base launcher (or something Smile ).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or am I in over my head?

Link

How about a link or website for this program?

They have some portable versions already, what platform are you using?

Firefox & Google

There's this awesome feature in Firefox, if Google is your selected search engine, you can just highlight something, right-click the selection, and choose "Search Google for...". This works with any search provider, but Google's the one you want. It's a lot faster than asking for a website; I bet if I googled Peerblock it would be the first result.

That said, I'm not so sure a portable version would be a good idea. I think it would be better to use the block lists it utilizes in the portable version of the p2p program you want (e.g. uTorrent). I am not sure if that is possible for all p2p apps, though.

I've never heard of a p2p app

I've never heard of a p2p app that had a blocklist feature. But, I haven't been big on downloading anything for the past few years, so who knows.

FF Search selected: Thanks, NathanJ79!

*** Off-Topic ***

One never stops learning. Thank you for this really helpful little hint, NathanJ79! I’ve been using FF ever since but never realized it has that helpful function. Much appreciated!

I would use the utorrent

I would use the utorrent blocklist feature, but I trust PeerBlock more and itupdates automatically from the same place as PG2.

Still worked on?

Is this still worked on? Now that we have µTorrent Portable, it might be a good idea to have PeerBlock Portable, too. I reckon that Admin rights might be needed due to some driver installation stuff?
