Why is MultipleInstances not possible in general?

c2cg - August 5, 2010 - 11:35am

Hey there,
thanks for the great work.

But I was wondering, why MultipleInstances is per default not possible?

I changed the FirefoxPortable.ini to allow MultipleInstances and it worked smooth and very well, even if my local Firefox was running. But is there a chance to corrupt my local Firefox-Settings or what is the reason, why I have to allow it?
Incompatibilities with previous versions?

Cheers.
Dirk

imagine

that the FF is supposed to clear few things when being closed down. Now you have two of them running. You close one. Should the files be cleared or not? The second might need them. Or other way round, such files in question will have similar names, which are my one and which are of my brother has the just closing FF decide. Hw to do that?
