PortableApps.com Recovery mode

After having my PC crash earlier (not PortableApps fault!) it got me thinking. Normally when a portable app is aborted incorrect for some reason, you probably want to restart the app and close it again to fix any issues caused by the incorrect exit of an app to restore proper portability.

John, would it be an idea to have PortableApps menu keep track on started apps and when they have exited incorrect, use the launchers to restore settings by starting and exiting the launchers without starting the actual application?

Maybe some solution could be found by having even a message to reinsert the usb stick in case it was removed.

Not sure if it is technically possible or even if it would be worth having. It was just a thought I just had. Maybe it's an idea, maybe not.

Just to be sure I restarted (and exited) all portableApps I thought I had running.

Cheers

Coming

This is in the works. The PA.c Launcher already centralizes backed up/changed stuff. Shortly, the platform will handle 'emergency cleanup'. You will lose any changes that were unsaved when it happens, but the PC will be restored to its non-PA.c state.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Launcher does do it

As well as centralising it, the Launcher does restore things properly when it detects it got terminated. That's another good reason to use the Launcher rather than a custom launcher.
