Faststone Image Viewer

OK, maybe I'm just new here, but I don't understand why I'm not seeing a download for the Faststone Image Viewer. Is that because there is a portable version which is downloadable from their website? Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think I've seen portable versions listed on the websites for some of the programs currently available through PORTABLEAPPS.

Also, for what it is worth, I have used both XNVIEW and Faststone, and I find Faststone far superior for image editing for many reasons, not the least of which is the ability to edit the image full size instead of having to deal with two little windows, make fine adjustments, and reset individual adjustments to the default instead of all the items available in the dialog box.

This has always been an excellent program, but the enhancements to the current version 4.5 make this program a real gem in the realm of freeware.

Freeware

As it's Freeware, a PortableApps version would count as a modification and could only be produced for distribution with the Developer's permission.

Freeware

Thanks, MJA. That clears it up for me. I couldn't tell if you were also trying to direct users to other freeware in addition to your primary mission of developing portable versions of existing apps.

Freeware?

I agree Faststone is superior.
Regarding the "Freeware" theme I could also agree, but I'm a bit confused:
For example skype is available at Portableapps, indeed I do not believe it is an open source!

Why is it not possible to make something similar also for Faststone?

Thanks,
Marco

Three Years Ago

The message you are answering was posted three years ago.

Back then, PortableApps.com was self-restricted to working with open-source programs only. Now most non-.NET freeware is OK, with the author's permission.
