I have GIMP 2.2.13 and GTK 2.8.18 installed as non portable on a Win2K system. So I downloaded the Portable Gaim 2.0.0beta3.1, that have GTK 2.6 statically linked. After some try I understood that the problem happen when exist (or when is created) the file: If I remove that file, PortableGaim ask me again to create the account. Obviusly the error happen also if I copy my 'accounts.xml' (or all the .gaim directory) from my normal Gaim to PortableGaim. How to have Gaim, and the last minor version GTK 2.8 on the same Win32 system ? ( categories: )

Try AOL / Yahoo
Give AOL and Yahoo a try on the same system. This may be another MSN issue. There have been multiple issues with MSN lately due to the change of the network. That's the whole reason for the b3.1 release. So, this error you have may be related.
Gaim Portable should not be using your local GTK, even if it's in your PATH. Gaim Portable 2 B3.1 uses its own internal PATH (with no local links), GAIMHOME, GTK_BASEPATH and GAIMLANG variables which are independent of the local machine.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
