MyBible

This is one of the best free bible-reading programs I found so far.
Is there a chance, that someone makes a portable version of this?

2 things:
  1. The English version is, according to the site (not frequently updated)
  2. Not open source

That said, it might be possible. Run RegMon while running it. Post back the results, but make sure it's only from the bible executable.

I'm fond of the freeware

I'm fond of the freeware e-Sword

http://www.e-sword.net/

It's not open source, but it has very good features.

"e-Sword is free software. This license is designed not to restrict your freedom except insofar as is necessary to ensure that the program remains free for all. If you want to do something that is against this license, but within the spirit of free software, then let's talk about it."

I have not yet attempted to make it portable,

It does use the registry, but I think I'd really only have to locate the OCX's it places into the Windows system.

A registry / *.ini settings storage toggle would be nice.

"I have not yet attempted to make it portable"...

OK, then, please DO!

(if I was a programmer I'd try it mySELF, but since I'm *not*...)

This one is open source

And I run it from my flash drive. I don't know if it leaves settings, though.

Hey

Hey I made that one portable but thus far it still needs to export the settings to the settings directory but my second release of it should come soon with that bug fixed. If you want to test it out you can find it at this post I made https://portableapps.com/node/3432. This is my prerelease there is now an rc1 but my bug is not fixed yet and I am still working on it. Plus this has an updated splash thanks to rmccue. Actually I also did songbird Portable and we are going to make into a new player all together if we can't get permission from POTI to continue. My rc1 link is http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0XOJR2QV please test it out and let me know what you think
