9.22 version of PortableApps 7zip?

Still beta

7zip 9.22 is Beta quality, and has not yet been officially released by 7zip. Once it is, we will release a portable version as well.

How about now?

The version on SF does not indicate 9.22 is beta...

Yes It Does

You look at the homepage here: http://www.7-zip.org/

9.20 is the stable release, 9.22 is the beta. Even if they have a 9.22 stable up on SF, we don't release it until they link to it on their homepage. Projects often put files on SF and remove or change them before actually announcing their release and linking to them.

Projects like 7-Zip do not indicate whether something is a beta from the downloadable filename, so you have to go to the homepage to see what is stable vs beta.

OK whatever you want to call it

9.22 has been out for quite some time. Is there any chance it might be released on PAc in the beta category?

No

9.22 isn't even supported by 7-Zip anymore. They've moved on to 9.25 which they are now calling alpha-level, not even beta level, which means there will likely be data loss. There's no reason to use something besides the 9.20 stable version except for very specific testing, so there's not much reason for us to package and support an alpha build of something like this.

I beg to differ...

About 7-Zip not supporting 9.22 any more. If you hit up their SF pages, you'll see they're offering 9.22 as the primary download & there's nothing newer. Their home page also still lists 9.22 as beta with 9.25 as alpha. (Of course, it seems odd for phases to last so long with release dates of 2011-04-18 & 2011-09-16, respectively!) I'm not suggesting/asking that the alpha be made available but it would be nice to have the beta. I've probably had it installed on my primary system for ~10 months now. From the FAQ:

"What version of 7-Zip is more stable?

Now there one main version of 7-Zip: 7-Zip 9.20 - it's revision 20 of 7-Zip 9 (started in 2009) Latest beta versions can fix some bugs of previous versions. So they can be more stable in some cases. In general it's safe to use latest beta version."

It may be a moot point anyway since they also have listed that new version 9.26 is expected out next month! It doesn't really indicate if that will be an alpha, beta or stable version, though.

homepage trumps project page

The main download on the SF project page doesn't matter. The maintainers with release ability often don't update that value and most projects don't properly use it. All that matters is the homepage. 9.20 is stable and the only recommended download for all platforms. The only other links are random alpha and beta versions (with no apparent logic as to why one is alpha and one is beta). You're welcome to manually copy the files from an alpha or beta into your 7zip Portable package. They should work. But I don't see a real need to add this app to the very limited list we support beta versions of.

hmmm

7Zip homepage shows 9.20 as current build.
The 9.22 build:
If you read the installer for the 9.22 you mention from Sourceforge you will see it is 9.22 beta.
