Not all tooltips are shown

Submitted by Loui5 on September 8, 2006 - 7:25am

In the new version of Portable Openoffice (2.0.3) not all tooltips are shown. For example, when you open the Format-->Page dialog, then tooltips should appear when you move the mouse over various parts of the dialog. This doesn't happen with the new portable version. I relied a lot on those tooltips, because it saved me time instead of having to open the Help file. Please, can something be done about it?

Unaltered OO

The OpenOffice.org included in OpenOffice.org Portable is unaltered. These tooltips are not present in a standard copy of OpenOffice.org so they won't be in the portable version. If you'd like this changes, file a bug/feature request with the OpenOffice.org team.

John, I see the tooltips in

John, I see the tooltips in the standard version of 2.0.3 that I have installed on my PC. When I run the application which I have installed on a USB memory stick, on the same computer, many tooltips are not shown.

I don't on mine

I don't see any on my default install of OO 2.0.3.

My standard version

My standard install version is OOo_2.0.3_Win32Intel_install.exe (compressed file) and its size is 96,793,015 bytes.
Needless to say, in Help...About it states that it's version 2.0.3.
Strange...

Extended Tips

It's called extended tips, and it's off by default. You turned it on on your local copy but not in the portable one. Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - General - Check off extended tips.

That's it!

Thank you very much. I must have done it a long time ago on my local installation and I forgot that such a setting existed. Now it's perfect for me. Smiling
