Windows Media Player Plugin and Firefox Portable 6.0.2

Ok so Ive installed this on Firefox Portable 3.6.16, and now Ive installed it on Firefox Portable 6.0.2. And although it works sometimes ,it wont work on the Official Mozilla Test pages.Maybe someone can look at what I did wrong,or maybe those links are outdated and arent connected to any media anymore

SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS TO GET THE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER PLUGINS

Standard WMP plugins: In Windows XP and earlier

npdsplay.dll "Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library"
npdrmv2.dll Microsoft® DRM
npwmsdrm.dll Microsoft® DRM

New WMP plugin for Windows XP and above

np-mswmp.dll

1) download the installer for the New WMP plugin for Windows XP and above

http://www.interoperabilitybridges.com/windows-media-player-firefox-plug...

wmpfirefoxplugin.exe

2) If Firefox is not installed or if the Firefox installation directory cannot be located,
the plugin will be placed in another location such as C:\PFiles\Plugins\np-mswmp.dll

3) copy the file to the X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

4) next go to this page and install the HTML5 Extension for Windows Media Player Firefox Plug-in

http://www.interoperabilitybridges.com/html5-extension-for-wmp-plugin

it installs here locally

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\plugins

and possibly here

X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\extensions\jid0-nRwp7VvCqZcSRTppwWz2npqGEKw@jetpack\plugins

Warning: At time of writing, this extension is not compatible with Firefox 5 or above and reportedly
causes excessive memory usage. If you installed the HTML5 extension and are having problems, open the Firefox
Add-ons Manager Extensions list and remove it (the WMP plugin itself will remain installed)

5) download the Standard WMP plugins from dlldump.com and place them in

C:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

npdsplay.dll: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/N/npdsplay.dl...
npwmsdrm.dll: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/N/npwmsdrm.dl...
npdrmv2.dll: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/N/npdrmv2.dll...

6) restart firefox portable and test

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

7) uninstall all windows media software from the "add and remove" menu

Now Ive gone to these test pages and it doesnt work

http://hg.mozilla.org/qa/litmus-data/raw-file/tip/firefox/plugins/mediap...

http://www.vdat.com/techsupport/windowstest.asp

http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/testpages/wmp9.html

But these pages load just fine.

Ideas & Comments

Please stop unearthing long dead forum threads to advertise your own thread. This is annoying, pointless, and against the forum rules as it comes under the rules against bumping and multi-posting, and most of all SPAM.

Im not advertising my own

Im not advertising my own thread at all.I simply found solutions to VERY COMMON problems with several VERY WIDELY USED PLUGINS and instead of having multiple conversations across the entire PORTABLE APPS forum I simply posted the full instructions to the tutorial in the most recent post with the most replies, then posted links to that conversation in each of the smaller ones.

ITS NOT BUMPING,MULTIPOSTING,OR SPAM!!!!

ITS CALLED ANSWERING QUESTIONS IN A FORUM ,WHICH IS DESIGNED TO ...NEVER MIND YOU MUST NOT HAVE A GOOD MEMORY SO HERES A LINK

I think you need to look up

I think you need to look up the meaning of bumping and multi-posting in the rules.

Oh, and while you are there, take a look at the one about playing nice.

Meanwhile, what have I done here? Not broken the rules is a start, and I don't think I need to say anymore in reply to an obvious flame.

I READ THE RULES FOR THE

I READ THE RULES FOR THE FORUM AND ITS NOT SPAM OR SELF PROMOTIONAL BECAUSE i DIDNT RELASE ANY SOFTWARE.

ITS NOT MULTIPOSTING BECAUSE I DID NOT POST THE SAME THING TWICE.i SIMPLY POSTED LINKS TO THE ORIGINAL POST SO THE FOLLOWERS OF EACH THREAD WOULD BE NOTIFIED OF A NEW COMMENT

aND ITS NOT BUMPING BECAUSE IT WAS A RELEVANT COMMENT

Warning

Name-calling and similar language is prohibited in these forums. As is shouting in all caps. Please stop immediately and familiarize yourself with our forum rules:
https://portableapps.com/forums/guidelines

As to the topic at hand, posting a reply to an older thread is acceptable but finding 5 similar threads and posting to them as well (even if just to link to the main thread) is not as it adds nothing to the discussion and just clutters up the Recent Posts list. Users couldn't subscribe back then, so no one will get an email notice about it.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Language!

Uh... John...

I think you didn't address the rather graphic act that he proposed in his tirade.

Apologies for the harsh

Apologies for the harsh reply.Note taken.

As for my commenting with a link to the most recent one , Ive seen countless comments posting links to other threads. And none of them added anything to the discussion if we are going by your definition of "adding relevant info"

And how am I supposed to know that older users couldnt subscribe to the posts?

Might I suggest a way for people to silently notify only the people in the post about the comment instead of it being set as a recent post?much like facebook?

But lets be real for a second.I think you are a nice guy and I love this forum and portable apps. And I just spent an entire day researching and updating all these tutorials for multiple web plugins that everyone uses on a daily basis. So I shared them with everyone.I took time to post clearly and concisely since I dont like my time wasted,so I dont want to waste anyones time.yet instead of a thank you I get insulted by a forum member, and lectured like a little kid by you.

I think this is more about silly "internetz forum etiquette" and less about what we are all here for "portable apps help"

It just makes me want to participate less not more in this forum

have a nice day everyone, and enjoy what tutorials I posted that werent "accidentally deleted" I will not be reposting them
