Cisco Packet Tracer

I was wondering if the Cisco Packet Tracer could be made portable

taken from the Cisco page : Cisco Packet Tracer is a powerful network simulation program that allows students to experiment with network behavior and ask “what if” questions.

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/netacad/course_catalog/PacketTracer.html

can be easily downloaded from here (as it's a pain in the a** to download it from Cisco's website) http://www.packettracer.info/

I use this for one of my college classes this quarter and currently we have to load up a virtual machine in order to run it, it would be really if I could just run it from PortableApps Smile

looking at the

Cisco website and seeing "The Packet Tracer software is available free of charge ONLY to Networking Academy instructors, students, alumni, and administrators that are registered Academy Connection users."

Makes me wonder if it can even be done legally?

It can be done.....

Hello,

I am a huge fan of Packet Tracer. I was able to download a program called cameyo and create a portable version of Packet Tracer. I did this last night and it worked on 3 pcs I tested it on.

I'll be honest and admit I am new to CCNA and will start part 3 (switching and wireless) next week. I am not familiar with (yet) all the functionality and can't state with certainty that everything works. The commands learned in CCNA 1&2 work fine. I am certain the Cisco online PT assessments would not work.

Let me know your thoughts.

Just because it can be done....

Doesn't mean it is legal to do so.

As noted above: "The Packet Tracer software is available free of charge ONLY to Networking Academy instructors, students, alumni, and administrators that are registered Academy Connection users."

Which means it cannot be distributed openly whether packaged in PortableApps.com standard or by Cameyo or any other portable standard or virtualization process.
