Auto-Update possible in PTB 1.5 RC1?

hanshans - December 22, 2005 - 8:05am

Hello

Is it possible to let PTB 1.5 RC1 automatically check for updates? Mine was configured like that and just wanted to install a security update. But my research on mozilla.com or portableapps.com didn't show that there was any security update available.

Is it safe to update automatically within PTB 1.5 RC1 or should I wait and download the whole new package from portableapps.com as available?

RC2 is out

The update will be bumpy as RC1 is compressed... so it will fail the first time and succeed the second. I'm releasing the full RC2 later today with an updated launcher. So, you could wait for that.

Just auto-update it

Just auto-update it

Enigmail and GPG are for encrypting and signing emails. Google em.

can i know the link to 1.5 rc2 version for download ? my TB has harassed me, saying a upgrade is available, but i did not find that on the web site. when i click on the show more details line, it takes me to all the regular versions available upto ver 1.07

since version 1.5 (rc1)

since version 1.5 (rc1) Thunderbird can update itself, just the files it needs. Use "Check for updates" ... and use NEXT to process update ... with PortableTB first auto-update will fail but the second will be succesfull, there's no need to download whole TB

Auto Update

When the update does occur after it fails or goes through the second time, 1.5rc1 becomes TB 1.5. Is that still usable as a PortApp, even though rc2 hasn't been released (that I know of or haven't read yet), or 1.5?
(without enigmail)

Yes.
