[Closed] 'Confirm closing of unsaved images' cannot be turned off
nospam - May 9, 2012 - 9:15pm
GIMP 2.8 requires saving to .xcf or exporting to other image formats.
I never use .xcf, so I want to export to my desired format and close the session without using the native 'save'. GIMP 2.8 requires an extra step to confirm closing if the native 'save' is not used, unless the box under 'Edit-Preferences-Saving Images-Confirm closing of unsaved images' is un-checked. Un-checking the box give me the desired result in the installed version of GIMP 2.8, but has no effect in the portable version of GIMP 2.8. Please fix the portable version of GIMP 2.8 so un-checking the box gives the desired result.

Can't reproduce
I just tried this, and can't reproduce the issue. My method:
I unchecked the appropriate checkbox, then imported an eps file. I then edited it, and closed gimp without saving, and Gimp didn't complain.
Confirmed
I unchecked the box, then opened a PNG, altered it, and exported it as a new PNG. No prompt when closing.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Tried again - now it works
I downloaded a new copy of the portable version of GIMP 2.8, installed to different directory, shut down computer and booted it up again, and the check box works properly. Sorry for the false alarm. I guess it was just a glitch with my installation or system software somewhere.
