Portable GTK+

Just a thought, but wouldn't it be simpler to have a separate "App" for the GTK+ libraries which people can download and carry around, and which other portable apps can run from instead of having separate GTK+ copies for each App (I'm thinking Gaim and GIMP here).

yes, 4Mb isn't a lot of space, but it can make a difference.

just a though.

thanks for all the great apps John!

This isn't something I agree with doing, but I really do think this issue should get some consideration:

John will likely create a \common\ folder for libraries shared by apps in the PA Suite sometime soon.

Working on it...

I didn't have time for the 1.0 release of the suite. But I had a test release of Gaim up that did this. I'm planning on having the launchers support:

\PortableApps\CommonFiles\GTK

That way if there's no GTK within the app itself, it'll look there. Gaim and GIMP will have this added in. As will a couple other GTK-based apps I'm working on.

Oh no

Microsoft style! Run!
(I'm referring to the fact that some MS apps keep stuff in \Program Files\Common Files)
