Can i upgrade portable Firefox this way: Install Firefox in Program Files from original setup file, then copy all files from the installation directory to E:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox?

I know but these instructions are how to upgrade using paf.exe setup file. My question is if it possible to copy the installation files from Program Files to portable Firefox directory and after this uninstall Firefox which is in Program Files.

Not Supported

The only apps we support are in PAF format. Unofficial/illegal copies of Firefox from other sites are not supported.

question - do you want to copy data from a local install of FF?

Do you have Firefox installed on you computer and want to copy your bookmarks/add-ons etc to a PortableApps Firefox?

if so, this thread might help.

I will try to explain in a

I will try to explain in a little more details what i am asking.

Let say i have Firefox 24 portable installed in E:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable and i want to upgrade to Firefox 25.
I am downloading the standard Firefox setup file like this http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/51001/, and i am installing Firefox in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox.

Now, the files that are in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox, are the same as the files in E:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox, but updated. So, my question is, is it possible to upgrade the portable Firefox 24 as i copy the files from Firefox 25 in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox to E:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox. And after this i will uninstall Firefox 25 in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

I understand

I do not think that will work.

The best way to update FirefoxPortable is with a newer version (via the PortableApps updater or downloading the *.paf installer).

So the best way to update to FirefoxPortable 25 would be to download and use the FirefoxPortable 25 *.paf

Now, be aware that Firefox 25 is out of date and will have security issues (as has Firefox 24 unless you are using the latest ESR version)

This is the part that is "At your own risk"

All versions of FirefoxPortable are still available on Sourceforge.

You can find all the FirefoxPortable releases here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%...

and the link for all the language versions of FirefoxPortable25.01
http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%...

Download the one you want and you should be able to do what you want Smile

files are not exactly the same

files are not exactly the same in that the paf version is slightly tweaked to be portable (files/temps/paths).
You can just install over the old versions, or if it is like the other posts said, want to move bookmarks, you can just copy that file over.

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.

yes but

if you do all very correct way it is, but the question remaining why??
People might give you the proper help if you just mention what are you after.

Note that not all essential files might be contained in the standard windows installation and some might be elsewhere in the system etc.

It is much easier to update the portable firefox with the .paf file and forget abt the local installed one or simply uninstall the local one of you do not want have it any more.

If you need some older versions of firefox portable, it is easy to get it instead copying things from somewhere.
