Using portable apps like Chrome Portable inside a Truecrypt volume = slow and painful

Hey folks,

I'm making a special USB drive with an encrypted layer using Truecrypt, the idea is to make a product that is for people who live in countries without freedom of speech means to surf the web with a browser with a Proxy, if the item is lost or confiscated the encryption give peace of mind to the owner.

I'm finding the browser often freezes and gives poor performance.

I've tried regular Chrome portable and Xchromium portable.

Once its ready for primetime I'll probably have to go with the latter, as Chrome is licenced by Google and I don't think I can redistribute it.

I'm assuming the on-the-fly encryption system of Truecrypt is causing the browser to run not so well.

Anyone got any suggestions to tweak Chrome or Truecrypt for better performance? I think when I've installed both these browsers on the C: drive of my regular computer they run perfect.

I'm using my own menuing system to launch the apps. (Bibles, Christian software, VLC with radio stations & audio bibles)

Why Chrome?

Why Chrome? Surely you just want "a browser that works" ?

P.S. if there is a mod watching shouldn't this be in General? Just a thought
