Nightingale

Program: Nightingale

License: GPLv2

Description: Similar to Songbird, but has a stronger user base and support. Nightingale is a completely free, open source audio player and web browser based on the Songbird media player source code. As such, Nightingale's engine is based on the Mozilla XULRunner with libraries such as the GStreamer media framework and libtag providing media tagging and playback support, amongst others. Since official support for Linux was dropped by Songbird in April, 2010, Linux-using members of the Songbird community diverged and created the project. Contrary to Songbird, which is primarily licensed under the GPLv2 but includes artwork that is not freely distributable, Nightingale is entirely free software, licensed under the GPLv2, with portions under the MPL and BSD licenses.

I know of Songbird, but it's dead. What's holding this application from becoming portable?

Would love a portable Nightingale, too.

Hello, i would also love a portable version of Nightingale - where you don't have to re-load library and change settings on each start. Thanks!

No update

Hi,
based on the discussion in the thread I linked above it looked like the portable version was on its way.
However there is nothing yet 2 years later.
Can we expect Nightingale portable anytime soon?

Abandoned

Nightingale appears to have been abandoned as well. The current release is from Jan 1, 2014.

Nightingale

Too bad Nightingale seems to have faded away. I've been waiting for the portable Nightingale for at least a couple years after seeing John's post on their forum. Now AIMP seems to be the only in-development PortableApps music library management app.
