Suite 7-zip
jeb5000 - December 11, 2006 - 11:20am
When I click on 7-zip in 'Portable Apps Menu' it tries to unzip 7-zip.
There appears to be a self extracting exe file that the menu sees. '7-ZipPortable' is in a sub folder in this first directory. Had to copy it to the PortableApps directory to get 7-zip portable to work. It was installed this way by the new suite download.
Directory structure was
PortableApps, 7ZipPortable, 7-ZipPortable, App/Data/Other
Copied 7-ZipPortable directory to PortableApps directory and everything works.
After closing 'Portable Apps Menu' I deleted the 7ZipPortable directory with the exe file.

Directories Next To
All directories within the PortableApps directory are scanned for all EXEs at the moment.
To install 7-Zip Portable into the menu, you download the 7-Zip_Portable_4.42_R2.paf.exe file from the 7-Zip Portable page. From the menu, you click Options - Install a new app - Install and then browse for that file. The menu handles the rest.
Or you run the 7-Zip_Portable_4.42_R2.paf.exe file directly, point it at X:\PortableApps and let it install. Then click Options - Refresh App Icons in the menu.
Sounds like you copied the download file to a directory within the PortableApps directory.

Install
This was a clean install of the standard Suit download. Did not add 7-zip later.

Nope
Just did a clean install. Nothing like that is included. You most likely had something on the drive prior to installing.
