Can I use Portable Apps for Business, or do I need a license?

Hi There,

I have been tasked with creating a nice portable USB stick for all of our engineers to carry around with them when they go onsite and PortableApps is perfect for the job.

I have been asked by the higher ups that before I can create a load of these sticks for everyone how the licensing works, would it be okay in this scenario or would a license be required?

I understand this may be dependent on the apps being used but any help would be great!

Thank you in advanced!

You Can

You can use all our tools and platform in a business context as long as you are not selling our software or modifying and redistributing it outside your organization. Putting together a package for your own employees and having them use it is just fine.

All open source apps permit use in a business context. Most freeware apps permit use in a business context but some either prohibit use commercially or require payment for use in a business. These apps will mention or explain it in their EULA. It's nearly always indicated on their individual homepages on our site as well.

In addition to using the standard package for free, we also make a commercial license available for businesses that wish it. This allows a company to blacklist/whitelist apps in our app store, have custom branding, and will shortly allow a company to add their own private apps that won't be available to the public and push notices out to their users.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
