Since Chrome is becoming less portable when does it stop being portable?

I no longer regard Chrome as a PA, I use it quite happily in more than one work situation where I am performing a role. If someone wants to gather the mixed data from many people using a work system then they can feel free to do so. I think some people look for on-line stuff just because they are bored or want to play with google / chrome. That is none of our business.

What we should be wondering about is at what point, given the continuum, does Chrome stop being a PA ?

I think if someone said,

"Hey, there's this new browser, Chrome, can u guys make it portable?"

today

I think the answer would be, "no".

You basically have to login to Google. And that applies to the local version as well. My local copy randomly loses all its extensions and settings on a regular basis due to another app touching its settings files. It's just what Google Chrome is now. When logged into Google with an always-on high speed internet connection, it works. If you want a standalone browser, look elsewhere.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Who knows that

You, I and, I guess experienced PA users know that but clearly not enough to read the warnings alongside PA + google,

I say let them no longer and more clear, while offering alternatives, of course

Is this why after using hangouts app on home pc with a local chrome install on C: if I access other computers using PA chrome version it now leaves behind a "chrome apps" folder on them? I've also had chrome install itself locally onto three different machine's when using PA version of chrome without any input from me other than using PA chrome.
