Putting the 'Tor Browser' onto the Portable apps menu? Seems impossible!

I managed to get it to appear and function there once, but then I moved another file and now I only get error messages whenever it is clicked on from the portable apps menu.

For the life of me, no matter how many different combinations of drag and drops/copy and pastes I cannot get the app to appear on the portableapps menu and be clicked on and work.

Can someone help? I have searched the forums and found some similar posts but the solutions weren't clear and/or didn't work.

Actually, whilst I'm here...

I was getting frustrated with all the errors and problems I was having configuring my USB so I just deleted everything and formatted it to manufacturer defaults. I just downloaded the portableapps platform onto the USB and whenever I hover my mouse over the platform window I get an error message

"Portable apps platform
'External exception C0000006' "

What have I done wrong? Thanks

Edit: Restart solved the error message.

Possible Drap and Drop

The only thing I can think of off-hand is due attempting to drag and drop. The menu doesn't have that functionality, but our programming environment may have built some bits in. I haven't seen that error before, but please do note if you come across it again.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Move Folder

The PortableApps.com Platform expects a real EXE to exist in the root of the app being added to the platform. So, it's expecting something to exist in the Tor Browser folder. Tor Browser creates a shortcut folder with a hard-coded path in its root folder. This shortcut will break as you move around, so it is not portable, and would not work even if the platform supported shortcuts. You can however take the Browser folder out of the Tor Browser folder and place that directly within the PortableApps directory. Tor Browser appears to be self-contained within that folder, though I can not guarantee that. You'll get a couple extra shortcuts in the PA.c Menu using this approach due to the extra EXEs within the folder that you can just select to hide.

Hi John,

Hi John,

That's solved it! I put the Tor Browser folder into the portableapps folder with all the other apps, then just emptied the folders contents amongst the other folders. As you said, a couple of other unwanted folders came up in the portableapps menu but I just clicked hide and it all works sound. Thanks for your help.
