XAMPP FileZilla Server NOT Portable.Fulton - January 5, 2007 - 11:44pm
If I understand this right the FTP server (FileZilla) in XAMPP needs to install a Windows service to run. This would install in Windows on my PC and not my USB stick. I hope I'm wrong, can anyone clarify? »

XAMPP does install several files on your computer including the windows register.
Yes
It installs and then uninstalls the service. So, it is admin only. This is a limitation of FileZilla.
