simple digital picture editor

I hate to use this word but “Microsoft” has a simple picture editor bundled in with Office called Microsoft Office Picture Manger. It’s so simple to use, my 74 year old mother can use it.

What I’m looking for is a program that can:

1. Crop pictures to a preset size (4X6 5X7 8X10)
2. Red eye removal
3. Adjust brightness, contrast and colour
4. Sort pictures and batch rename them. (drag and drop pictures around in a window, in the order you want them and then rename them all)

Picassa & FastStone

Picassa from Google and Faststone Image Viewer (www.faststone.org). Picassa is not portable. FastStone is portable (download portable zip file). Neither are open source.

thanks but

Thanks for the information but they don't quite do what I want.

I found two programs that are close to what I'm looking for.

JPEGCrops http://ekot.dk/programmer/JPEGCrops/

cPicture http://cpicture.net/en/index.html

JPEGCrops does a great job of cropping pictures, lot's of preset sizes.

cPicture does a great job of removing red eye.

Combine the two and add brightness, contrast and colour adjustments and you'd have a great program.

There's the challenge all you programmers! lol

Open?

cPicture is trialware/shareware not open source.

JPEGCrops license is quite ambiguous. I'm not even sure it is legal let alone open source.
