Whatever happened to the Komodo Edit progression?
I didn't want to put a request for it, because it was already in development to be portable. Then after searching for it here, it had stopped on version 5 Development Test 7.
As of now, Komodo Edit is on version 9.2 and completely Open-Source as well. Hopefully it gets picked up again here.

The last couple of entries on the development thread you've visited give you some of the answer, i.e. the Developer advised that the Koodo name could not be used without obtaining specific permission; and then failed to respond to an offer to work with them to continue with the development of a PortableApps compatible version of the software. Add to that the fact that the volunteer developer of the early Test builds probably lost interest and/or moved on to other things some considerable time ago and continued development is therefore now dormant. It's open to any other volunteer developer with sufficient interest/motivation to take over the project, but it also is clear they would need formal permission from Komodo's developers because of the copyright/trademark issues raised. Obviously no-one has felt sufficiently inspired/motivated to follow this through.
It's a shame that some companies, although open-sourced, still tries to secure a good grip on their code. I understand that ActiveState wants to maintain control of Komodo Edit builds, but it seems kind of senseless to deny PortableApps to use their name for their own product. Afterall PA is just trying to help their app be more spread out and more useful to more people.
Hopefully whomever gets inspired to pick this up again will have a more positive experience with ActiveState in acquiring the use of the Komodo name. Many thanks for the reply.
