Cannot run 7-ZIP @ sch

Submitted by 04nunhucks on February 20, 2007 - 9:30am

The admins @ school blocked 7 zip as it allowed access to shares to which pupils should not be able to access. However, i use 7ZIP to copy files over to my workspace and my USB drive. I need to be able to use it again. I have the source of it but it is in C++ and i only know Visual Basic and KiXscripting. How do I change all the texts 7ZIP to something else?

Asking the technicians to unblobk it is not an option as I had the software blocked in the first place (in a way).

umm

resource hacker maybe
http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

also idk what methods they used to block it? so you should also try to compress or "crypt" the exe 7zfm.exe (i think), since that is the file manager, so it fools the blocking application to think its another executable i dont recomend this but UPX if it is already not compressed with UPX try UPX or try petite
http://www.un4seen.com/petite/ download the standard (since its free)
This ^ might help these applications only compress PE files. there are some (i mean alot) out there that actually crypt it so search for em!!!

tried that

although I tried it, I'll try it again.

I use the file manager mostly and it actually copies my files properly.

have you tried changing the

have you tried changing the exe name and its corresponding entry in the ini file?

done that

I think the netowork blocks all titles text etc that contain "7-zip". I made a fake app and called it "7-zip". The application immediately closed upon execution. The network could have also blocked the process name.

That is

definitely a job for the ini-changeable exe name.

i can

change the information in the NSIS code but I don't know the language that 7zip is written in.

Ok

I can edit the NSIS script however, I don't know Visual C++. Unfotunately, I only know the Easy-to-Make-Viruses: KixScripting
