Translation

Thank you for your answer. The Translation into german is so bad - it does not make any sense. Where do I find the original? The data is - was (?) saved at the space proposed by the Program. May be that is the Problem.

Data

Most users store their KDB file within KeePassPortable\Data or within their Documents directory elsewhere on their drive. Even if you saved it to KeePassPortable\App - which like all App directories is off limits for user data - it would preserve it on upgrades. The only way you could save it in a way to have it deleted on upgrades is if you manually selected the KeePassPortable\Other directory.

KeePass Portable's directory structure and upgrade process hasn't changed in years. By default, it should offer to save to the local machine's Documents directory due to a limitation of KeePass itself.

Side note: Looking at the code, there is an issue with portablization and adjusting the paths in the current release. I'm pushing out a fix for that now. Are you sure your database isn't where you saved it before and the app just didn't remember the location? Was it saved locally?

Thank you for your

Thank you for your explanation. Reading the original text makes it understandable. "Translate" gives a more than confusing result.

The file you are asking about was on the stick with all the portable apps. In the meantime I have deleted keepass and all data going with it.

I will leave it in this situation until all the information will be available for entry. May be the mentioned adaption will be available.

I can confirm that neither

Edit: Sorry, board software freaked out and clipped my text.

I can confirm that neither

I can confirm that neither KeePassPortable <= version 1.27 nor KeePassPortable 1.29 nor KeePassPortable 1.29 rev 2 delete user data. I have them stored in KeePassPortable\Data folder and they are still untouched by the updates.

What I had trouble with was that a KeepassPortable <= 1.29 on USB stick would use the data path of a locally stored KeePassPortable <= 1.29 (and vice versa) such that if you do not check the path you would store new data in the wrong data base. I have my 'main' KeePassPortable on a USB Stick and have a locally stored KeepAssPortable for reference (looking up existing passwords but not store new ones). It happened in the past that the KeePassPortable on the USB stick loaded and wrote in the locally stored KeePass data base and not the one on the USB stick. You have to verify everytime that it does use the appropriate path. If ou do not konw that you generate a mess in your data beases.

Cheers
