Google Chrome: profile problem

Good afternoon. I would like to use a portable Google Chrome. But there is one problem: when opening links from external programs opens a new window, not tab. Also no external links in the browser history. Links to external programs use a different browser profile. How to make one single profile for everything, and that open new Windows and tabs? Thank you.

Running Directly

If you associate Chrome as your default browser, you're associating Chrome itself and not Chrome Portable. So, you'd be running Chrome in local mode (not portable mode) and using a profile within APPDATA when you launch it. This profile is separate from your Chrome Portable profile which is contained within GoogleChromePortable\Data.

Manually

You can manually associate GoogleChromePortable.exe as your default way to open links and html files within Windows itself. There are a couple default browser setting tools online, though I don't have any experience with a particular one.
