I have no menu titles..

mikeb34 - March 5, 2007 - 9:53pm

Hoping someone could help me...
I just D/l Open Office to hard drive. In all apps I have no TITLES visable in top toolbar (such as file, edit, tools). Also below that in the app toolbars there are button boxes and arrows for drop down visable but no text or titles there either.
I deleted and re-d/loaded... still same issue.
Any ideas?

Thank you very much

Is there a local

Is there a local installation as well? Or has there been a previous installation?

no, never installed before.

no, never installed before.

I have similiar problems...

You are running 2.0.4, correct?

If you are, this situation is probably due to Java not being installed on the host machine. I had this problem with all the computers at a specific location before

I downloaded the trial version of OO.org Portable 2.2 from here: http://portableapps.com/node/6347

Java can be downloaded from here for free: http://www.java.com/

I have personally not had any problems with the "testing" version yet, and 2.2 has the option to throw the clone of a Java installation on the portable drive and run Java that way. Eye-wink
While I was trying to figure out how to have OO.org recgonize the "cloned install" (you just install Java locally, then follow the directions.... <_<), for some reason Java didn't load properly when I had OO.org refrence the local copy while its "clone" existed on the flash -- and my computer then did this exact same thing.

The solution was simply to refrence the USB copy of Java from within OO.org configuration. <_<

btw, thanks John for what is in my humble opinion a better option than MSFT in every possible way.... Smiling

I have the same problem.

I have the same problem. Only a couple pieces of text and a few pictures throughout the entire menu system.
I have tried installing 2.2 and the newest version of java, but to no avail.

XP Home
2gig RAM
Java 6.0
No Previous OO isntallation.
00 Portable 2.04 and 2.2 have the same problem.

System Font

Click Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - View and ensure that "Use system font for user interface" is checked off.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks

Thanks a lot. It was a challenge to find the checkbox though Sticking out tongue

still no menu bar

Hi I have the exact same problem as Hexadecimator
except after I checked off the use system font for user interface box (and it was very hard to find)

I still could not see menus even after restart.

I'm using portable ooo 2.2.1
Windows XP sp2

I do have ooo 2.0 installed on local machine

Install to the root

Install to the root directory. example: C:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable

This solves the issue
