maxvelasques - March 11, 2007 - 7:56pm

Program: wxDownload Fast

License: Open Source/GPL

Description: wxDownload Fast (also known as wxDFast) is an open source download manager. It is multi-platform and builds on Windows(2k,XP), Linux and Mac OS X(binary still not available). Besides that, it is a multi-threaded download manager. This means that it can split a file into several pieces and download the pieces simultaneously.
The last release brings a portable edition, that permits to run the program directly from pen drives.

I think...

I'm pretty sure that John Haller's (Or someone else, Rob Loach is says?) already working on WackGet Portable
Since he's already got a page up for it.

So IS that one portable?, because the whole multiple download parts thing sounds pretty cool. And I just read more about it, it sounds like a great download manager, I'm gonna try it out.

wxDFAST IS PORTABLE!!!

Sorry about the screaming, just too excited!!!

Yeh

It's Rob.

Yup, wackGet is portable, but in my limited trials of the proggy, it ain't all that fast. FlashGet is faster, for example...

not fully portable

The downloadable programm is not fully portable. The standard download folder is not relative.

Imho this programm is more worth to be added to portableapps.com. The wackget developement seams to be dead, this programm seams to be up and running.

I like it

I edited the wxDownload Fast .ini file to make paths relative. Nice program and works well, especially considering it’s only at version 0.6. I think this one may be a keeper.
