This dosent work on windows 98 right?tjera - April 20, 2007 - 9:52am

You need the MS Unicode Layer for Windows installed.

Many modern apps require or include it, so a good chunk of Win9x systems already have it.

Ok i downloaded "MSLU",I
Ok i downloaded "MSLU",I doubled clicked it,than it asked me where do i want to extract the files ,and i left the default one ,TEMP folder.Than i tried to open VLC but i again got the same message:"Error while loading DLL "unicows.dll!.The aplication will terminate now".After this i extracted "MSLU" on my Flash drive,i uninstalled VCL ,and installed it again,and when i tried to open it i got the same message as before.
Any more detailed help?

i really would like to be able to use this one.I never new about this Portbleapps directory ,and when i discover it, i was really exited .All the programs i need(Firefox,gimp,keepass ,miranda im)are working great ,i only have VLC player which doesn't work.
Please see if you can help.

Do you have a
unicows.dll ?
If you do, try putting it in the /PortableApps/VLCPortable/App/vlc folder.
Maybe it'll work then.

And i just did what you told me to ,but it doesn't work again!
you have to put Unicows.dll in system32
had that problem to
you can take any unicows.dll do a search on C:
personaly I copied windows Media player 9 's unicows.dll
it works fine
you just have to put it in C:\Windows\system32\
after both the real vlc and this portable version should work
you don't have to put this file in the portable vlc folder because lots of computer have it
