PowerJournal

I would like to make a request for PowerJournal to be portable.

Program: PowerJournal

License: GNU General Public License

Description: PowerJournal is a java-based journaling software that is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can also upload to an online database using hSQL and MySQL.

Website: http://powerjournal.sourceforge.net

Other: Only entries on the computer I see is in C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENTUSER]\.PowerJournal. And the reason this needs a launcher is that the journal and settings are stored there.

I really would do this myself if I could program .

Thanks,
Kevin

From what I see, yes. You

From what I see, yes. You could use John's suggested use for the Common Files directory under PortableApps if it is required (which I have no idea of ). I'll research and get back to you on that one.

Well, I'll take a look into it.

And, I didn't find anything

And, I didn't find anything about it.

Oh.

I forgot to tell you, I took a look at this, and it includes the Java Runtime Environment (at least the download I got does). So, I'm going to delete the included Java, and see if it will use a local Java instead, if so, I will try to modify John's launcher for OpenOffice.org so it can use common Java as well. Any specific features you were looking for? Like, a default save dircetory?

I think I may try adding a .ini property that allows you to decide where the save directory is by default, just to work on my nsis.

I think just the normal Data

I think just the normal Data folder would be fine. And it does have the option of not including Java in the installation, so I believe it would run from a local directory.

Ok good.

Then I'll give it a shot.

Edit: I just checked, it needs a java virtual machine, and it needsthe jre in it's native folder, so I don't know what to do?

Well, most people will have

Well, most people will have Java (because it works with Linux and Windows), so I, if it were me, would put a note on the page about it needing the JRE. But that's just me. May impact the portability, but it's better than nothing, right?

Well.

I dunno.

I also found files under C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER]\.PowerJournal

Not sure what they're for exactly.

Oh. Haha.

I thought you said under AppData. Blum

Anywho, once I get A Note Portable complete, the code should be enough for this application. And maybe I'll just let people put the java in themselves.
