Hi everyone,
Found a very useful app under GPL licence called GCALDaemon. This is a Gmail service for syncing Google Calendar and many other Google services. I've installed it locally on PC and Mac and it works a treat. Its currently synced to my portable Rainlendar and Sunbird on my PC and iCal on my Mac.
Anyone know or want to attempt to make it work portably?
to do some of this, if you want. Provider for Google Calendar can sync Thunderbird with Google Calendar. Gmail Notifier and Gmail Manager can both give you a Gmail notifier in Firefox. Unfortunately, I've got no solution for your gmail contacts yet.
I figured you might want some alternate options, because so far, portable, Java-based stuff isn't making much ground. Every time someone brings up a Java app, anyway, I hear a solution is being worked on, but isn't there yet.
however i already knew of these. I didn't realise that GCAL was a java based program (it didn't even cross my mind to check).
Never mind I'll have to just wait till there is a Java solution.
but you do know that the first line of the page you linked to actually says that it's Java, right? "GCALDaemon is an OS-independent Java program..."
yes i konw that now, but it was not the opening page I found when i Googled for what i was looking for.
Sounds like a good candidate to me, once the common files are worked out.
