Open Source Document Viewer

Does anyone know of an open source document viewer that can read multiple file formats, something along the lines of Text Maker Viewer

Not portable, that's what I'm looking to do.

Reinvention?

OpenOffice.org can read and write to the major Microsoft Office formats, and between them Firefox and Sumatra can do the other common formats as well.

Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would go to all the trouble writing free software to read "Pocket Word" formats (:

Sorry.

I'm looking for an alternative that would be of lighter weight, and would be quicker to open the files too.

And open source as well.

You're cutting the Inter-nets a good run for its money. Seems like work in progress.

Anyway, as I see it, the only viable implementation of a complete and comprehensive viewer for life, the universe and everything would probably be a plugin-based architecture.

I understand completely

I understand why you would want to. I think it gets a bit heavy. I use Abiword for it for the moment.
