File extensions

I have been using the little portability called CAFE (http://clef.usb.googlepages.com/cafe) for awhile. It uses relative paths and allows file extensions to automatically open programs.

I was thinking it would be great if this type of functionality was built in to future versions of the portable apps menu.

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

cafe TOTALLY different than convey

convey has the self close feature which is nice but cafe actually handles clicking on the actual file handling extensions that you premap to relative pathed apps on your drive. don't have to go thru the process of r-click||send-to. on close, it restores the pcs original ext mapping. really dig cafe.

Signature automatically removed for containing links

cafe and convey would work well together

I agree cafe and convey they are pretty different - they are both very useful though.

It would be nice to have their combined functionality build into the menu.

Also, cafe has a neat option where you do not have to premap extensions. You can set it up, so if it does not know an extension it will ask you to assign a program on first use and remember it in the future (i.e. write to its ini file with relative paths).

Downloaded yesterday

But still don't use it... I also saw a bunch of other apps in the web page... could be interesting... Wink

If they (Convey and Cafe) can work together, then is a breeze...

I'll try today...

If I have time, i plan on doing a convey mod that has the features of CAFE in it as well.

C.A.F.E. (and Spanish translation)

I used it and I found it very but very cool...

Only one thing... it is pretty annoying to configure it... I have to find any possible extensión that portable VLC can handle to configure it... and so on with the other PAps... Sad

Don't you have an already associated ini file? Wink

Another thing is instructions and license are not translated.

and finally, how can I close C.A.F.E. when PStart closes? I'm using cmd.exe but may be C.A.F.E. have a command line for that, or not?

BTW, I did a Spanish translation for C.A.F.E. in case someboy wants/needs it... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5YLSUK2L

Closing C.A.F.E. with PStart

Just create a new item in PStart to launch CAFE with the following parameters

/exit

And set it to run when PStart exits.

Try files with .mp3, .wma, and .ogg - VLC is able to play all of these, along with most other media files. The VLC website may have a full list.

Thanks

I'll try both two suggestions...

Other apps

Does anybody know what L.A.I.T. and S.U.C.R.E. are for? has anybody else used it? I know it has something to do with C.A.F.E. but that's about all I can understand.

LAIT is outdated and has

LAIT is outdated and has been superseded by SUCRE. as far as i can tell, SUCRE just lets you run an app with parameters if you type it into the little box. the other app there, M.P.cube converts a m3u file from absolute paths to relative paths.
