Toolbars

I have Firefox 2.0.4 installed on my flash drive. I also have the Google tool bar installed. I have two add-ons: the Google notebook add-on and "Split Browser". Split Browser allows you to split window panes in Firefox.

I did not like how much space my tool bars took up so i moved the buttons from my Google tool bar to my bookmarks tool bar and some to the main tool bar (the on with "File" and "Edit" on it). But I've noticed that as i move from computer to computer the buttons that i have moved to the bookmarks tool bar rearrange themselves. Also I've noticed that my Google tool bar sometimes changes my preferences. I don't know how familiar any of you are with the Google tool bar but the buttons that i have downloaded for it sometimes delete themselves, and other times it starts showing buttons that I have told it not to.

Does anyone else have this problem? Am i leaving anything behind on these computers? I also couldn't tell you if it is saving my Google tool bar preferences on each computer because each time i find this problem i fix my preferences and button arrangements. I also have not noticed if it is consistently the same wrong preferences on the same computer. It is always changing in different ways and arrangements.

Thank you for any help.

Google Toolbar = Not Portable

Google, oddly, changed the way their toolbar works in the latest version and made it *NOT* use the standard Firefox data storage mechanisms. It uses *LOCAL* files to store prefs. So, it is not portable.

You need to talk to Google about that.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Prefs location

Thank you for the information. I will try to pursue this more with Google. But where is the exact location of the preferences that are being left behind?
