Ghostfox Portable

Visit http://www.ghostfox.org for more information. It is just like Firefox, open source and freeware, and based on the coding of Firefox but with added Privacy features.

Pretty sure that version is

Pretty sure that version is illegal because it still uses the original Firefox logo and does not change the branding at all. Notice the screenshots all have Mozilla Firefox in the window title. Great idea, but they need to make changes before it's legal. It also uses John's code for one of the Firefox Portable builds, doesn't change most of the info in that, which I think is also illegal, and it also hasn't been updated since July of 2006

I Agree
Welcome to the home of GhostFox!

We maintain the Open Source version of Firefox called GhostFox which was designed with extra privacy features in mind. GhostFox offers these additional attributes beyond the standard version of the Firefox browser:

    * provides an integrated proxy toolbar and other extensions designed specifically for working with Internet proxies
    * preconfigured not to save your surfing history
    * GhostFox is extremely portable, borrowing features from Portable Firefox.
    * browser includes our favorite privacy oriented Firefox extensions
    * does not replace but works fine along side any existing version of Firefox
    * works out-of-the-box with GhostProxy.com Premium Surfing

GhostFox is free software offered under the terms of the GNU Open Source license. Take a look at the Screenshots and download GhostFox, and rediscover the web without being discovered!

Didn't edit in time...

Just wanted to add that they could use MR Tech Local Install to change the displayed name...

There's a jar file

In the "chrome" folder, there is a .jar labeled en-US.jar

if you use 7zip, browse into that jar file, go into the "locale" folder, into "branding" and edit the file "brand.dtd" one of the strings in there is for the branding. After downloading MF-PE, I always change this file so the title is Mozilla Firefox Portable Edition, and I change all of the short titles to Firefox Portable.

you don't have to extract anything, just use the 7zip file manager to browse to that file, then edit it with notepad and save it.

Cool

Thanks,

This is so cool. Much simpler than the AnyFox Extension/Addon

I'm now posting this from "Phoenix/FireBird"
Not sure which one I like better yet.
(these are the original names of FireFox [think Netscape rising from the ashes])

I'll probably leave it this way till the next update and then let it go.
It's nice to know there are options though Smile

I love tweaking Blum

Hmmm...

So I'm not the only one that remembers that...
As it says in my "profile" here:

Favorite Portable App
Was Firebird (yes, I still used it!), now Firefox!

Still holds true. I use FFP every day. Even on my own machines.
