"Installer integrity check failed"

Submitted by Dreamstalker on November 14, 2009 - 7:58pm

I've already installed the platform and most of the apps I want without incident; the OpenOffice installer won't even launch and errors out with "The installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download or damaged media". I have also attempted to install a previous version (hoping to update once installed), but that gives me the same message.

The operating system on my laptop is Vista Home Premium w/SP2; I'm trying to install onto a Patriot 8GB flash drive (this app is the only one out of about 5 that gives me the error message).

Any ideas?

Documents folder error

Submitted by RaggieSoft on November 10, 2009 - 10:26am

For some reason, OOo 3.1.1 Portable insists on saving everything to E:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable\Data\Documents instead of the default E:\Documents created by the PA Menu (I'm using 2.0 beta 3).

Yes, I've tred reinstalling OOo Portable from scratch (completely deleting the E:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable\*.* folder and starting over with a fresh download)

E:\ in this case is my USB hard drive

EDIT: Clarification: I can still navigate to the E:\Documents folder from the Save As dialog, but it always starts in E:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable\Data\Documents.

Hi,

if I try to start Open Office Portable 3.1.1
on Windows Vista Home Premium it crashes after startup.
I receive the system message
"Open Office does not work any more".

Any idea how to solve this problem?
That would be great!

can't find the lite

Submitted by Pyromaniac on November 2, 2009 - 7:06pm

I saw a really old version of OO.o on this website in the beta forums and I now use that instead of the supported version that's out there right now. I know that there is AbiWord, but I'm loyal to OO.o and was wondering if John (or somebody else) could create OO.o Portable Lite. I know you used to have Writer and Impress downloads by themselves but its gone now. I literally have 642Kb of free space on my flash drive! (before I downgraded to lite.

Everyone knows you can't work without lite Sticking out tongue.

OpenOffice 3.1 Writer (and more) does not start from USB stick

Submitted by Westender on October 28, 2009 - 5:21pm

Hi there,

something strange happens: on a usb stick of a friend of mine, OpenOffice 3.1 Writer does not start. Even Calc doesn't do so.

There is no splash screen. The only thing you see is in the task manager. There I can see the two processes "soffice.bin" and "soffice.exe", but after a few seconds, they both disappear.

Is there some sort of log file, where I could check, what went wrong? Are there maybe some known incompatibilities, I should have a look for?

Portable variant of Sun PDF Import Extension for Open Office

Submitted by Alan_B on October 22, 2009 - 1:22pm

I like the idea of importing a PDF file into OpenOffice as per
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/pdfimport

I assume that as standard is not portable.
Is there, or will there be, a portable version please.

Regards
Alan

Installation error

Submitted by Vikings_MN on October 20, 2009 - 10:14am

Pentium3 850, 448MB ram, XP Home
Downloaded OpenOffice Portable 3.1.0 to the D:\ Partition on my HD.
Verified the MD5
Attempted to install (replacing OpenOffice 2.x version, wanted .docx support)
Install location: 1 gig PNY Attaché USB flash drive.
Other Portable Apps installed: GIMP, ClamWin, Jooleem, KeePass, MPlayer
Free space on PNY is reported by PortableApps launcher as 700MB.

Problem is, installation seems to run fine up to a point, then I get a popup box
with the following error text "Extract: error writing to file bf_xomi.dll"
