Need Windows XP users to test new eject utility (Update 2017-12-04)

The PortableApps.com Platform uses the USB Disk Ejector utility internally to handle safe ejects of USB drives. It's a solid open source utility with years of work behind it. Unfortunately, version 1.3.x of the utility, while fixing some issues, has caused issues for some of our Windows XP users in the past. Most recently, we tried upgrading it in the Platform 14.0 release but had to revert back the old 1.1.2 disk ejector in Platform 14.1.

The Beta Testing Forum is used to provide test versions of applications that aren't yet ready for wide use, but could use the input of willing participants to test them out to hammer out any bugs, as well as offer comments and criticisms of the application so the developers can make changes before widespread public release.

Any developers may post beta testing notices here whether their apps are hosted by PortableApps.com or not. But these should be legitimate beta tests only, not an attempt to drive traffic to your own site.

Signal Portable 7.4.0 & Self Updater

Submitted by whalelinguini on April 12, 2024 - 2:36pm

Believe I have this all correct. Packed the newest Signal into portable format. Since Signal needs to be updated somewhat frequently and will not run when the version gets too old, I suspect whoever has maintained past portable versions stop after a while.

I wrote a powershell script to grab the newest signal binaries from signals site, which then will update the portable app.

I didn't want to pack my own written updater in with the app, so I have them separated. Below is a download link for them, along with a pastebin for the update script.
