7-Zip Portable

Will the 9.22 version of PortableApps 7zip come out soon?

hi guys,

i'm new with this portable apps stuff.

i just want to ask a few things.

how can i associate file types with 7zipportable, i tried it in the options menu but it won't. i've tried associating file types with another portable app from winpenpack, specifically, the x-mpchc, it just does it fine. but with 7zipportable it won't.

last, can we integrate 7zipportable to the shell context menu?

The folder ..\7-ZipPortable\App\7-Zip64\ contains a file named 7zip.chm

The file name should be 7-zip.chm to make help work on a 64bit PC.

Just did a clean install of 7-Zip Portable 9.20, and now it won't remember any of my customizations after closing. Whenever I start it, it resets to its default settings. Not sure what happened, but this is definitely a regression as 7-Zip 4.x worked fine.

Operating system is Win7 Ultimate x64, with Platform 2.0b5.

Disclaimer: I run PortableApps from HDD on all my computers and sync it with Dropbox. I do that because I like to have the apps with their settings in one, easily transferable folder. I do not carry it on a stick. So, if you're anything like me keep on reading.

Problem: If you try to integrate the portable 7-zip with the shell context menu it'll throw the "Can't find 7-zip.dll" error message at you.

Solution:
1. Install a "normal" version of 7-zip from their site: http://www.7-zip.org/

How to update a local install from last stable to the new 9.20 ?

I'm on 32bit Vista, should I use EXE or MSI ? both are for 32bit, what is the difference and what is better for an Upgrade ?

Can somebody please verify:

I made an encrypted Archive of my personal Data and stored it.

About 3 hours later I added new Data and told 7Zip to add them to my
Archive which was to my knowledge encrypted.

Then there was to my surprise no question for the password and after the new files have been added my archive was without encryption???

Do I have to encrypt the filenames?

Please could someone give me a clue!

Hello,

we have WebWasher installed in the corporate network. This blocks the download of the actual 7-zip file '7-ZipPortable_4.65_Rev_2.paf.exe' with the remark that the Microsoft Authenticode certificate has expired.

These certificates seem to last one year, the file on the server is from June 2009. Maybe thats the problem?

Could this be fixed?
